Aceten EyeWear was created to fill a hole in the market for poker eyewear. Founder and CEO Ian Vaughan believed that there was a need for high-quality eyewear that could perform better than the standard sunglasses. Ian spent years perfecting the design, resulting in a flexible, lightweight design that is becoming the standard in the poker world. Aceten products are also great for use during gaming and outdoor activities!
A Word from Our Founder
Growing up, I always had a love of poker. Inspired by the talents of Daniel Negreanu, I paid close attention to the tells of competitors and loved to see when reading the opponent’s facial twitches would win him a hand.
As the years went on, I continued to follow professional poker and develop my amateur game. I went on to college and studied engineering in my hometown of Philadelphia before moving across the country to begin my career after graduation in Davenport, Iowa. There, I found some solace from being homesick when I joined a recurring poker game with some new friends.
In the spirit of Daniel, I found myself trying to read my opponents’ faces and identify their tells. I soon realized I had been giving off some tells of my own and implemented the use of sunglasses to up my game. I even finally got the invitation to join my father’s weekly poker game, something I had been waiting for since childhood. (Not to brag, but I didn’t lose a dime to the old man!)
As an engineer, I felt the market for poker eyewear was disappointing, to say the least. So, in 2014, the inspiration for Aceten EyeWear was born. I’ve worked tirelessly over the years after work at my full-time engineering position to develop the product and brand. Through big career changes, more moves around the country, the birth of my first child, and the passing of my father, Aceten has been growing.
Finally, my dream is a reality and we at Aceten Eyewear are so excited to present our first line of products, engineered for poker players who want to look cool while they win big. From outdoor activity to eye protection, these glasses have been designed to work for all aspects of my customers’ lives. I hope you enjoy them!
